Bipartisan polling firm RABA Research conducted an online survey of 503 Utahns January 21 – 22, 2024. The survey looked at respondents’ opinions of organized labor unions and variety of workplace issues being considered by Utah’s legislature.
Of particular note, 93% of respondents believe “Utah’s workers should have the freedom to join a union”.
- The results of this survey show an 83% of respondents “would be LESS LIKELY to support my legislator if they voted to weaken workers’ rights”. And 91% believe “Utah’s workers should be able to contribute a portion of their own wages to their union if they choose to”. Organized labor unions are viewed favorably by 47% of respondents.
As Utah’s legislature consider significant changes to existing state labor law, respondents were asked a series of questions related to the legislation under consideration.
When asked;
- “Do you support efforts to force regular elections that will cost Utah’s taxpayers more even if workers do not want them?” 81% of respondents answered “No”.
- “Do you support removing Utah’s employment protections for healthcare workers, firefighters, police, teachers, and other public employees?” 78% of respondents answered “No”.
